Smartphone-Free Education
We help schools reduce digital distractions with secure phone locking pouch solutions that support a calm, focused and interruption-free learning environment.
Our Mission
Why is this important?
Chronic Cortisol Elevation (Stress):
Research from 2025 indicates that the mere presence of a smartphone on a desk — even if turned off — increases “brain drain” and elevates cortisol levels, as the brain must actively use energy to ignore the device, leading to higher baseline anxiety and mental fatigue by the end of the school day.
FOMO and Academic Detachment:
The “Fear Of Missing Out” (FOMO) creates a state of continuous partial attention; a 2024 study in the Journal of Education and Health Promotion found that students constantly checking for social updates suffer from “cognitive overload,” making it significantly harder to move information from short-term to long-term memory.
UNESCO 2023 report noted:
Nearly 1 in 6 students aged 13–15 has experienced cyberbullying, which frequently occurs during school hours when supervision of private digital spaces is impossible.
Mental Health & Sleep:
A 2025 study in Frontiers in Psychology linked excessive school-day phone use to higher levels of stress and “nomophobia” (fear of being without a phone). Furthermore, students receive an average of 273 notifications per day, with a quarter arriving during school hours, causing constant cognitive “pings” that interfere with deep learning.
The “20-Minute” Refocus Period:
UNESCO cited data showing that it can take a student up to 20 minutes to fully refocus on a complex task after being distracted by a phone notification or check.
Learning Loss & Distraction:
The PISA 2022 study, involving 81 countries, found that one in three students reported being distracted by digital devices in class. Critically, students who were distracted by other students using phones scored significantly lower in mathematics.
The Social Safety Net:
Data from Norway and the UK shows that banning phones leads to a 40–60% decrease in bullying. By removing the digital lens from the playground, schools see a significant rise in face-to-face interaction and a sharp decline in the anxiety caused by FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).
Better results:
Research published in 2023/2024 showed that in Spanish regions where school phone bans were implemented, students achieved scores in math and science equivalent to 0.6 to 0.8 years of additional learning compared to regions without bans.
Sleep & Mood:
A 2024 experiment by the University of York found that after a 21-day phone ban, students fell asleep 20 minutes faster and reported an 18% reduction in anxiety symptoms.
Academic Gains:
A study by Policy Exchange (2024) found that secondary schools with effective bans were more than twice as likely to be rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted. Schools with bans saw GCSE results that were 1–2 grades higher for students compared to schools with laxer policies.
Reduced Mental Health Strain:
A 60% decline in students seeking psychological help and a sharp reduction in bullying (down 46% for girls and 43% for boys).
Significant Grade Improvement:
A “clear positive effect” on GPA, particularly for students from lower socio-economic backgrounds.

Benefits:
Enhanced Concentration
With mobile phones securely locked in the pouches, students can focus on the lesson without the temptation to glance at the phone screens.
Preventing Cyberbullying
Our smartphone pouches support anti-bullying policies. With the phone inside, the pouch remains closed in “phone-free zone” designated by school, no more unauthorised recording of others.
Improved Social Interaction
By reducing screen time, students have more opportunities to interact with each other, fostering the development of relationships and friendships.
Optimal Security
Our mobile phone pouches provide excellent protection against accidental damage, allowing students to focus on their school tasks.
Responsibility
Smartphone Pouches belong to students, and during school time are kept closed in their school bags. Students are responsible to keep their pouches clean and in good working order.
Supporting Teachers
Teachers feel more supported because they can Focus on teaching instead of dealing with disruption cased by ringing phones during lessons.
Time Management
The Just Focus system improves time management, as there is no need to collect and return phones each day. Additionally, a wall-mounted locker can be placed at reception to store the phones of students who have forgotten their pouch.
Cost effective
When taking into account a liability, responsibility, time management and storing requirements, System Focus is the most cost effective solution currently available on the market!
